Abstract

The nano-satellites are gathering interests and concerns of many researchers on the space use. We are newly developing a
ground receiving station using an active phased array antenna. The purpose of this study is to build them around the world in order
to realize a worldwide receiving antenna network to communicate with the nano-satellites and to get information in real-time
through the internet anytime and anywhere. Our target frequency is X-band for the communication between the nano-satellites and
the ground receiving stations. The phased array antenna for the ground receiving station is composed of hundreds of poles with
many antenna elements. The single antenna element has the omni-directional antenna, the amplifier, the phase shifter, the
frequency mixer, and the power combiner by using the computer. 8-array antenna system is designed in this study. This system can
control beam directions electrically, which is controlled by the computer.
